Tug War: It's Time To Play With A Dog

Improved Essays
Dogs are fun to play with because you can fetch, tug war, and with water. Dogs like throwing and catching their squeaky toy in the air. Retrieving a surprise squeaky bone in the dog’s mouth would make you laugh. Sometimes you pull on a piece of rope and your dog doesn’t let go. Tug war is too hold on the rope when it has slobbered all over it. When a dog pulls you to the ground and growls at you it lets play again. Tugging is so hard on the rope and then you fall in a puddle of water with your dog. Dogs like chasing strips of water crossing the sky coming out of the water gun. They like pouncing on top of the flowing sprinklers to get cooled off on a hot sunny day. Dogs are fun to play with and they provide companionship. Dogs provide companionship

(Provide high-level advice on companion animals - topic 1 - Problematic Behaviours page 22) so by implementing activities for your canine it can alleviate the problematic conduct of the dog. Giving your canine room to move and the option of being able to explore it's territory when the owner is not around and ensuring they have enough toys to keep them stimulated can also help manage destructive and nuisance conduct. When the owner is present it is beneficial for them to be a part of the animals activities and interacting with the dog with games such as playing fetch or stimulating your animal mentally by as well as physically by playing games involving instructions and educating your animal in commands of sit, stay, fetch, find. By simply taking your canine for a long walk can actually hinder your training and behaviour of your dog as your are showing your pooch the "outside world" in all it's glory and therefore enhancing it's curiosity of the "other side of the fence". For this reason, I love coming home after a hard school day and unwinding while I play with my dog. Another example is the excitement I have witnessed as I am drive up my long gravel driveway and lay eyes on my dog showing his excitement by wagging his tail and jumping up and down as he waits for me to park my truck. Tug of war is usually a fun game for children. However, when dealing with being in the middle of two cultures, it is not as fun. It was as if the two identities that made me were playing tug of war to discover which identity would come out victorious. As a child, growing up in a country that your parents immigrated to often leads to a battle between two different cultures, especially with first generation children. With my parents coming to America after the Liberian Civil War in 1993, I grew up learning about their struggles and the sacrifices they made in order to provide a better life for my siblings and I. Elementary and middle school was a difficult time for me as I went through an identity crisis.…
