I love libraries. In my family, it was tradition to visit the nearby library on weekends; these sacred places of learning were an important part of the community I grew up in. Those treasure troves of knowledge of my childhood taught me the importance of every person and book. I saw my younger self reflected in them. Therefore, I hoped to instill in them my love of reading through leading explorations of the library to help them discover their interests. Just as my fifth-grade teacher had brought my class to a nearby bookstore for a poetry reading field trip, I worked hard to give them fun experiences so they could learn to love learning.
It was only one summer, but I knew that I had made libraries important for them. Just as books are checked out, read, and returned, I learned from my childhood libraries that my actions can touch others as they pass on learning, watering seeds that will grow into fruitful trees and then an orchard of living libraries. Therefore, I continue to reach out and give back, making my own change as part of this
