Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom is a non-fiction book representing as Mitch Albom and Morrie Schwartz final thesis together as “student and professor”. Their “final thesis’ talks about the different and important aspects in life and advice from the wise, passionate, ALS diagnosed, dying man, Morrie. He talks with Mitch every tuesday about certain topics that are involved in every human beings life. Tuesdays with Morrie illustrates the themes love, friendship/family, and death, through the thoughtful sessions of advice and guidance from Morrie. For instance, on one of Mitch’s and Morrie’s Tuesday meetings they spoke about what family is and the importance of family. “This is part what family is about, not just love but letting others know there’s someone who is watching out for them. It’s what I missed so much when my mother died -- what I call spiritual security -- knowing that your family will be there watching out for you.” (pg. 92) Family is something that not only loving one another but also is theme for each other but also is for being there for each other. Family will be there no matter where you are. In another instance where family and friendship is presented as a theme, is when Mitch and his brother, Peter, finally restore their friendship and relationship. “You my only brother, I don’t want to lose you. I love you.” (pg. 191) Mitch and Peter restored relationship conveys that keeping friendships and family close is important and people should protect that. Morrie’s guidance on keeping family near is significant aspect in life and his past experience demonstrate that their are consequences if we do not keep family and friendships
