Tube 4 Lab Report

Decent Essays
From the table of result, the highest percentage of killed bacteria is 99.7% with only 4 live colonies in the tube 1. It proven that vinegar is a great disinfectant as there is a huge number of killed bacteria. This is because there is 100% of disinfectant. Inversely, tube 4 has the lowest percentage of killed bacteria, where only 37.5% of bacteria are killed. Tube 4 has a huge number of live colonies with 580 colonies. With the negativity of result, tube 4 has lower percentage of killed bacteria than tube 7. Theoretically, the lowest percentage of killed bacteria must belonged to tube 7 because tube 7 has only 0.0001% of disinfectant compared to tube 4 with 0.1% of disinfectant. This is because of some errors during conducting the experiment.

If you are unfamiliar with the concept of the root user, do a quick google search. It is always a good practice on any operating system to run your applications on a user level and leave the administrative tasks to the root user, and only on a per-need basis. Applications are meant to be run by users with non-administrative privileges.(Power December 4, 2010)…

Tracheostomy tubes are inserted into and incision in the windpipe to relieve an obstruction in the airway. Endotracheal tubes are used to intubate a patient during anesthesia or when there is maintenance of the airway (Types of intubation, n.d.). Tracheostomy tubes and endotracheal tubes are often used for the distribution for aerosol therapy. According to the Medical Dictionary, Aerosol deposition is the depositing or the retention of aerosol particles on a nearby surface within the respiratory system. “Aerosol deposition during mechanical ventilation is reduced by the presence of an artificial airway” (Ari, Harwood, Sheard, & Fink, 2012).…

Conclusion Throughout all the test tubes that were observed, it is simple to classify samples as mixtures, compounds, or elements by viewing the particles that make it up on a picture representation. It is not as uncomplicated as observing the physical substance. Test Tube A consisted of small black and white specks that could phyically be seperated when holding a magnet to the mixture. Because this is possible, it is a heterogenous mixture also because the seperation can easily be seen.…

The effect of Tubocurare was quickly seen on Figure 3 along the raw data. A sharp fall in tension was correlated with the injection of the Tubocurare. The data represents the moment the injection stopped, and the first two minutes saw the greatest decrease. The muscle tension average was 21.43 grams during the first 15 seconds once the injection stopped. Although the preconceived expectations before starting the experiment involved a sharper decline of muscle tension that fall between 5 to 0 grams, there was still a sufficient and concrete decline emphasized on Figure 3.…

The scent of the tube M components changed drastically after the reaction. The reactants smelled toxic, like plastic or rubber, while the resulting methyl salicylate smelled pleasantly of sweet mint. The contents of tube I also underwent a dramatic shift, in not just scent but also in intensity. While the product smelled strongly of banana, the reactants were weaker; the acetic acid smelled of vinegar and the isopentyl alcohol of chlorine. Tube E experienced the least dramatic shift.…

Homogenates of liver were provided. The homogenates were made by homogenizing liver in a 1:20 w/v (1g: 20 ml) ratio in a sucrose-phosphate buffer, in which 250mM of sucrose and 50mM NaPO, with a pH of 7.4 were added. This information was used to conduct an experiment to determine the concentration of DNA, protein, and carbohydrates in different homogenate samples, including heart, liver, and kidney of Bos taurus, while also looking for the diverse protein sizes found in each homogenate sample. The liver homogenate was then stored at -70°C.…

The experiments were conducted to attempt to isolate and identify species of Staphylococcus from the skin and Streptococcus and Neisseria from the throat. I hypothesize that when we attempt to isolate the bacteria, what we will find is different species of Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Neisseria that part of the body’s normal flora. Within the experiment, we utilized a mannitol salt agar but, we did not performed a beta hemolysis test, we did not conducted a coagulase test, and we did not utilize a Mueller Hinton test for Staphylococcus. We did utilize a blood agar test to differentiate between alpha and beta hemolytic species of streptococcus and a gram stain and an oxidase test to confirm Neisseria that was isolate. What we found was…

The aim of this experiment was to analyze a sample of finished beer for possible microbiological contaminants such as lactic acid bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, and wild yeasts/molds. This was accomplished by using a series of spread/pour plate dilutions with various media types that contained selective ingredients. By cross-referencing the different medias and comparing observations, the generalized groups of contaminants were able to be confidently conjectured. Growth was witnessed on DRBC, DRBC + CuSO4, and MRS agars. The finished beer sample was likely contaminated with lactic acid bacteria and wild yeasts such as Brettanomyces sp., based on the colony morphologies witnessed on these respective plates.…

Purpose: The overall goal of this lab was to perform a procedure on E. Coli which involved transferring genes that encoded for the green fluorescent protein into E. Coli to see if the transferred genes would make a difference on the growth and whether or not the bacteria would glow under UV light. Hypothesis: If the bacteria with the pGLO plasmid was grown on a plate containing LB and ampicillin then the bacteria will grow but not glow under UV light. If the bacteria with the pGLO plasmid was grown on a plate containing LB, ampicillin, and arabinose then it will be able to grow and glow under UV light. If the bacteria without pGLO plasmid was grown on a plate containing LB and ampicillin then it will not be able to grow or glow under UV light.…

Synthesis and characterisation of conjugates Conjugation of CpG to antigen as a means for co-delivery has been shown to enhance cellular immune responses compared to delivery as a mixture. The ODN CpG however can be conjugated via its 3’ or 5’ end, and blocking of the 5’ end has been described to reduce its immunostimmulatory properties in splenocytes. To determine whether the end of CpG conjugated to OVA effects the induction of a cellular immune response by an immunotherapeutic vaccine, CpG modified with an amine group on either the 3’ end or the 5’ end were conjugated to the model tumour antigen OVA. OVA was first purified from aggregates by preparative size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) and then conjugated onto CpG using a bis-aryl-hydrazone…
