MR test tube inoculated and incubated for 24 hours, ten to fifteen drops of methyl red indicator then added to the cultured. If it turned red then that was the positive for the presence of mixed acids. No color change was negative, however, if the media turned orange, it was inconclusive. VP test tube was inoculate and incubated up to 3 days, vortexed, added Barrits Reagent A (alpha-napthol) and Barrits Reagent B (potassium hydroxide). Red or pink color was positive reaction, no color change was negative, however it could take up to an hour to see the color change.…
The Channel EQ and the Compressor are perhaps the most used Plugins on your Channel Strips. To add them to a Channel Strip is as simple as clicking on the Plugin Button ➊ and select them from the Plugin Menu ➋. However, there are faster ways to do that. ➡ Attention There are two Channel Strip Components that are visible by default (you can toggle them in the Channel Strip Component Window ➌ (open as popup menu or Popover window): Channel Strip Components ➌ • Gain Reduction Meter ➍: When the Compressor Plugin (or the Limiter, or Adaptive Limiter) is loaded on the Channel Strip, then this purple meter displays the amount of gain reduction. • EQ Thumbnail ➎: This area displays the frequency curve of the Channel EQ Plugin.…
Lab #5: Introduction to Metasploit on Kali Linux Team: CRYPTERS 1 d. Why is it usually a bad idea to operate in the Linux environment as root? If you are unfamiliar with the concept of the root user, do a quick google search. It is always a good practice on any operating system to run your applications on a user level and leave the administrative tasks to the root user, and only on a per-need basis. Applications are meant to be run by users with non-administrative privileges.(Power December 4, 2010)…
Lab 4: Osmotic regulation of cell volume The eukaryotic organism requires homeostasis to maintain daily activities and life. Zooming into smaller units to make up an organism, cells also require homeostasis in order for the organisms to function. Understanding the different balance cells need to maintain will aid us in understanding how cells in organisms successfully maintain osmo-regulations. Eukaryotic cells have selective permeable membrane giving them the unique function of regulating specific molecules between the intracellular and extracellular environment.…
Bongani Magadla Fallen Angel Sylas looked down at the blemishes that were beginning to blossom on his hands. His caramel complexion slowly becoming darker and lighter at the same time. The usual nightmares had not visited him last night; blessing him with restful sleep for the first time in almost a month. The faces in those nightmares were as clear as day. He pressed his hand down to the Stabilizer.…
Introduction Sold commercially under the tradename Sevin, carbaryl (C12H11NO2) is an insecticide that is commonly applied to corn, soybean, and cotton (EPA, 2000). It is a cholinesterase inhibitor that kills insects by preventing the breakdown of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter. Neurons are stimulated when they release acetylcholine and transmit a message to the next neuron (Waymire, n.d.). However, in order for a neuron to return to its initial, unstimulated state, the acetylcholine in its receptor must be broken down into acetyl and choline. Cholinesterase is the chief enzyme that is responsible for the reduction of acetylcholine (Waymire, n.d.).…
The processes that Blue Dragon have found to be the most successful when taking kids off of the street and offering them opportunities to gain an education have been to approach them personally and offer them a safe place to get a warm meal (Brosowski. M. 2017). They do this by looking in areas that the children are most likely to be, this means thinking like a street kid and being able to go where they are. Often these places that the children have deemed safe from law enforcement and predators are not at all safe for the children. These places include, under bridges, under rail way tracks, near the banks of the rice fields and the Mekong, and places where a large group of the children can keep each other relatively safe. Once they find these children, Blue Dragon offers them a hot meal at their HQ.…
The purpose of this experiment was to identify the different absorbance levels and response between normal cells and cancerous cells. Also, the difference between resting or stimulated cells and whether they have a difference in absorbance from each other. Inactivated forms of ERK cells don’t react and bind to the antibody on the ELISA plate, therefore this results in a no colour change on the plate. Whereas activated with added phosphate ERK cells react with the antibody and so antibodies do bind and this causes a colour change on the ELISA plate. From my results it shows that stimulated cells have a higher absorbance compared to unstimulated cells.…
In this lab, we carried out a variety of reactions using different chemicals and metals. A chemical reaction is when the chemical state of the substance you are testing rearranges its ionic and molecular structure. One of the reactions we experienced was single replacement, this consists of one ion switching places with another ion to form a new compound. Another reaction we saw was double replacement. In this reaction, two compounds ions are switched to form two new compounds.…
The experiment was done to reveal how workouts supplements like C4 can affect the development of humans. Other experiments like this one can also be used to show how some substances may affect the development of humans. In the experiment the independent variable was the amount of the C4 that was placed into each well in the experiment, and the dependent variable was the zebrafish embryos after they were exposed to the C4. In addition, 2 controls were set up, containing a ocean/embryo solution, and the control was used to compare the effects between the solutions containing C4 and the solutions containing no C4.…
Purpose: The overall goal of this lab was to perform a procedure on E. Coli which involved transferring genes that encoded for the green fluorescent protein into E. Coli to see if the transferred genes would make a difference on the growth and whether or not the bacteria would glow under UV light. Hypothesis: If the bacteria with the pGLO plasmid was grown on a plate containing LB and ampicillin then the bacteria will grow but not glow under UV light. If the bacteria with the pGLO plasmid was grown on a plate containing LB, ampicillin, and arabinose then it will be able to grow and glow under UV light. If the bacteria without pGLO plasmid was grown on a plate containing LB and ampicillin then it will not be able to grow or glow under UV light.…
Two contained Elodea and two did not, two were placed in the light and two were not. What was the purpose of using all four tubes? To test different variables. Bromothymol blue is a substance from a family of chemicals known as indicators.…
The second assay used biorad protein assay reagent to estimate the concentration of the protein that was eluted. Both assays required a spectrometer to observe the color changes by absorbance. The hypothesis is that active and inactive tryspin would be able to be separated by affinity chromatography according to knowledge about binding and the regents…
Write a short summary with conclusions about the trypan blue and SDH results. Do the class results agree with the expected effects of the various treatments? Trypan blue exclusion is a method in which the blue dye is a crucial tool used to stain the nucleus of a cell that is non-viable or damaged. This shows early stages of toxicity whereas, the SDH leakage indicates a later onset of toxicity. The SDH leakage method requires the cell to have larger holes in the membrane to allow the sorbitol dehydrogenase enzyme molecules to leak out.…
Then I rinse with water over the staining dish. Secondly, I will add Gram iodine (Mordant) for another minute, which then the cells will the form a crystal a complex with crystal violet then rinse off the stain. The third step is to add 95% ethanol 5-10 second if the bacteria are Gram negative it would the cell would look colorless for the and if it is Gram positive the color would remain purple. I did then rinse the 95% ethanol off with out water not too much. Because the water stop bacteria from decolonization and you want to be able to see the bacteria under the microscope.…
