My seventh-grade year I tried out for our middle school basketball team. I was very confident that I was going to make the team. The coach told us that the list of people who made the team will be on his office door on the next day. I could not wait to go to school the next day and see my name on that list because I felt like I made the team. The next day my friends and I went to look at the roster. I was disappointed to see that my name was not on the roster me and my friends were astonished. My friends asked me was I okay, I told them that I was okay, but on the inside, I was really miffed. I was driven to work on my skills in the summer. I wanted to prove everyone at the school wrong because I knew that I had a great amount of potential …show more content…
We worked on ball handling, layups, free throws, shooting, defense, and conditioning. I was showing a great effort. I was a lot more confident than I was last time. The coach was using me to help show the rest of the player 's the drills. When was doing suicides I was really tired, but I knew that I had to show the coach that I did not get tired quickly. Tryouts ended. The coach called a bunch of the boys that tried out. I was kind of nervous because I was thinking that maybe the boys he called was the boys that made the team, but then I saw most of them crying. I was happy that I made the first cut. The next day came and I displayed the same exact effort. This time, after tryouts the coach told us that instead of gathering the players that did not make the team he was going to put the list of boys who made it to his door. The next day I was ready to see if I made the team. My friends and I all went at the same time to take a look at the list and there at the top of the list was my name I was so …show more content…
We were required to dress up for the game so I had to make sure that I was the best dressed. On our way to the game, we took a bus. I listened to music to make sure I stay focused before the game. We arrived at the gym we did lay-up drills. The other team had arrived and entered the gym. I looked at the other team I glanced at the 6 foot2 player that coach told us about he was very tall. I became really edgy. Coach told me that I was going to be in the starting lineup.
The game started. The ball escalated in the air during jump ball. Both our team and the other team were playing excellent. The crowd was chanting for us and we were feeding off of their energy. The game was going back and forth. During one of the plays the ball became loose and I went to recover the ball and the 6 foot 2 player pushed me to the ground. I was so enraged that I stood up and started clapping in the boy

This is why I wanted to challenge myself by playing a new complex sport. I shower up the first day of tryouts being excited and anxious, until the coach asked for everyone’s physical form, which I did not have. I was told I had to sit and watch or just leave, because I could not play without a physical form. I was being understanding, so I decided to sit there and watch. I thought that it would be a good learning experience for me by watching the older girl’s techniques of playing.…

My very first cheer performance was actually in Bosse’s gym. When I first heard that we were performing at half time at a basketball game, I was a nervous wreck! I didn’t even know if I wanted to do cheer anymore! I’ve never performed in front of a crowd so big. When we first got out there in the middle of the gym right above the big bulldog in the middle of the floor, I felt so many eyes and eager faces ready to watch and see what we did.…

I felt like I was better than I was the year before, and I was really excited. At the beginning of practice, the day before our first game, Mrs. Brandt lined everybody up on the base line, she told five of us to change our reversible practice to blue, and everyone else to turn theirs to yellow. We were about half way through practice, Mrs. Brandt stopped us. "The five in blue are our A team starters tomorrow", she said with…

My dad (Yaniv) and I (Adi), were working on building a basketball. My dad was nice and decided to do it a day after we bought the parts for the basketball. We bought the basketball because it was my sister’s birthday and she wanted a basketball really badly, but she wasn’t the only one. I was extremely excited too, because that meant that I don’t have to go to parks all the time just to play basketball for fifteen minutes. After about an hour of hard work I took a minute to look at the basketball and I thought “This looks like an NBA basketball!…

The thing that really helped me to learn quickly was my ability to pay attention and adapt quick. My coach always said “The things that you do in the classroom will transfer on to the court”. After hearing him say that I finally realized that education and basketball were exactly the same. After practicing hard and learning the “game of basketball” I got moved up to varsity two games into the season. This was a complete shock to me because a year before I was in the stands watching the games now I was playing them.…

I ran onto the court and heard the Cape Central coach yell “shooter.” Hearing that designation from an opponent reinforced how I felt about myself at that moment. Later that quarter, I caught the ball beyond the arch and rose up with a perfect release. It felt pure. Bam! Atiger defender crashed into me and sent me sprawling to the floor.…

As the ball neared its highest point, the shot clock went off, and the shrill buzzer pierced through the silence. Everyone in that arena was focused on one thing: the basketball, and where it would end up. It was June of 2014, and I had just learned that in October, Wells Fargo would be hosting an NBA preseason game. This was pretty special, because I had never been to an NBA game before and was really excited to go. My dad, even though he would never show it, was excited too.…

This was probably my worst presentation because in the other previous presentations, I was improving by each assignment and I thought this controversy assignment was going to show the greatest improvement but since I blanked out, it turned out to be my worst. I feel like there was a lack of success because when I practiced home in front of my family, I had good eye contact and my tone was energetic but when I presented in front of the class, I couldn’t remember the second point and started getting anxious. What made the sad was I actually tried really hard to practice hard to do my best and end the class with a good grade and a good presentation but I got unlucky. After that, it was a disaster because I kept looking back at the board because I was so scared and knew I was messing up. My eye contact was bad because I was so nervous and my tone and pitch was shaky.…

With a gentle smile, he said “welcome to the world son, and that’s how life is! No one is perfect from beginning”; it is just your practice which makes it possible, and he also adds that “remember, failure teaches many things.” Learn those things, and step ahead. I argued him saying, “But dad, the problem is those classmates, will Laugh at me; I can’t say anything to them because it’s my entire fault”. I don’t know what happened? I was very confident about the test but now I don’t know what I am going to do.…
