My seventh-grade year I tried out for our middle school basketball team. I was very confident that I was going to make the team. The coach told us that the list of people who made the team will be on his office door on the next day. I could not wait to go to school the next day and see my name on that list because I felt like I made the team. The next day my friends and I went to look at the roster. I was disappointed to see that my name was not on the roster me and my friends were astonished. My friends asked me was I okay, I told them that I was okay, but on the inside, I was really miffed. I was driven to work on my skills in the summer. I wanted to prove everyone at the school wrong because I knew that I had a great amount of potential …show more content…
We worked on ball handling, layups, free throws, shooting, defense, and conditioning. I was showing a great effort. I was a lot more confident than I was last time. The coach was using me to help show the rest of the player 's the drills. When was doing suicides I was really tired, but I knew that I had to show the coach that I did not get tired quickly. Tryouts ended. The coach called a bunch of the boys that tried out. I was kind of nervous because I was thinking that maybe the boys he called was the boys that made the team, but then I saw most of them crying. I was happy that I made the first cut. The next day came and I displayed the same exact effort. This time, after tryouts the coach told us that instead of gathering the players that did not make the team he was going to put the list of boys who made it to his door. We were required to dress up for the game so I had to make sure that I was the best dressed. On our way to the game, we took a bus. I listened to music to make sure I stay focused before the game. We arrived at the gym we did lay-up drills. The other team had arrived and entered the gym. I looked at the other team I glanced at the 6 foot2 player that coach told us about he was very tall. I became really edgy. Coach told me that I was going to be in the starting lineup.
The game started. The ball escalated in the air during jump ball. Both our team and the other team were playing excellent. The crowd was chanting for us and we were feeding off of their energy. The game was going back and forth. During one of the plays the ball became loose and I went to recover the ball and the 6 foot 2 player pushed me to the ground. I was so enraged that I stood up and started clapping in the boy
