This is the year where I told myself that I was going to try my best and give it my all. I didn 't think it was going to be so hard and cruel because the grading system cannot be that different from previous years. Senior year makes you feel like you are in college, I swear it like boot camp for your brain. My friends and I finished each day almost wanting to shoot ourselves in the foot. Last semester I learned a bit more of what I enjoyed and what I want to do.…

At the next day for practice, the player I trained with told me that I had worked hard enough, but to earn the staring spot over him. Our team had played well for the rest of the season, but lost the semifinals by a free throw. The next day, the coach called me and said that he wanted me to be on his team next year. After we had hung the phone up, I knew that I had accomplished a goal that I had always wanted to accomplish. I called my big cousin to tell him the great news, and he told me that he knew I would make the varsity team one day.…

As the ball neared its highest point, the shot clock went off, and the shrill buzzer pierced through the silence. Everyone in that arena was focused on one thing: the basketball, and where it would end up. It was June of 2014, and I had just learned that in October, Wells Fargo would be hosting an NBA preseason game. This was pretty special, because I had never been to an NBA game before and was really excited to go. My dad, even though he would never show it, was excited too.…

I focus a lot on school, because I know without it there 's literally nothing. Freshman year I locked in, and probably not the same what others do, or the way I should, but I started focusing on furthering my career in the sport that means most to me, basketball. Ever since I was little I 've watched people play basketball, and I always told myself, "wow I hope that I can be like that someday." But as you get older it really starts to hit you in a completely different manner. Like am I going to do this when I get older or not?…
