After Johnny shows Jonathan Lyte his cup with the Lyte family seal on it Jonathan acusses him of stealing the cup telling his house guests that he had four of the same cups that were stolen in august . Due to mr. Tweedie and Mrs. Lapham telling the sherif that Johnny is known to steal and lie Johnny is arrested and put in jail. When Rab asks Johnny if anyone saw him with the cup prior to August he remebers showing the cup to Cilla in July.
