As Junior year had started I had not been at practice for basketball for so long. As we got closer and closer to try outs I felt like I was obligated to go out there and try out. Then again, I didn't want to be like those new faces who showed up during that day and had not put in the work weeks ahead. I didn't show up to try outs. I wasn't part of the basketball team any more. That jersey number that was attached to me was stripped from my back. Heartbreak and hours of crying–that was the aftermath of finding out I didn’t make the travel basketball team in the fifth grade.
