Truvada has been approved by the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) in July 2012. The medicine is indicated as PrEP for adults only in high risk of HIV acquisition. Additionally, truvada has been also approved by the South Africa’s Medicines Control Council for the same indication. Although more and more countries are showing positive intention to integrate PrEP as a tool of, none of them have introduced PrEP for use with adolescents. Thus, there are not sufficient data about the effectiveness of PrEP in this population group.
