Truth Is Bias In Research

To find truth in journalism, one must determine which sources are biased and which ones are giving both sides of every story. People can look at multiple sources to see which ones are being bias and which ones are being neutral. In today’s society, people are oblivious as to what is the truth and what is not the truth. People should educate themselves on which news sources are reliable. For example, Fox news is conservative, which is considered as the truth seekers and is the most reliable news source because it does not favor any sides of a story. Unlike Fox news, ABC, CBS, and NBC news are liberal which are bias towards every story. Moreover CNN, MSNBC, and CNBC are also biased towards the media but are liberal plus. The SMELL test stands for S-source, M-motivation, E-evidence, L-logically, and L-left out. If people really want to find out what the true story is then using the SMELL test will be very helpful in leading them to it. For the source people can make a pie chart with information that has to be gathered, but if someone does not have enough information to create a pie chart then the message could possibly be a lie. There are so many different sources that people can look at to find the truth, but be skeptical about them because those sources will try to convince people that every piece of information is true. Motivation is very important because there has to be reliable sources that back up what information is being given and most of the times the news will leave out some information in order to make their side of the story more persuasive to viewers. Always try and find sources that have only informers because those are the most truthful ones. If someone feels convinced towards a point of view, the best thing to do is to go more into depth with it and pull out what is true. By doing this one is finding the evidence for that claim which makes it dependable. Every piece of information that is being told should be supported by a trustworthy source. Bias in media shows only in favor of one side of an argument. Due to the viewers not getting both sides of an argument leads to bias in the media. There are many ways to finding truth in journalism such as, being able to contradict what sources are reliable and which are not, thus pushing the political agenda. There may be many news sources that can be found only favoring one side; however, many other news sources can be found reliable.With only one side of the story being told, viewers only get one point of view which leads to only believing that particular side. With the eradication of bias in the media, more viewers may be attracted and the news sources will include all point of views of an argument.
