“When I Despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they will always fall. Think of it -- always.” - Mahatma Gandhi
According to this quote by Mahatma Gandhi, truth and love will always win and the tyrants and murderers will always fall. Love and truth have won almost every time in the end. The tyrants and Murderers think that they have won when they kill people or plant bombs in places and blow them up, but in the end, they are the ones that die or go to jail. Love and truth won when Hitler and the nazis were around for many reasons. Truth and Love were shown by many people that were trying to save jews that were being held at concentration camps. Anton Sukhinski was one of the few brave ones that helped Jews escape. Sukhinski was known as the village idiot that lived outside of a small town in a little shack. But when the nazis came to poland, nobody in that small town was brave enough to help the jews but Sukhinski. Sukhinski immediately took in a 16 year old girl and he hid her in his cellar. He then offered a hiding place for a the zeiger family, a family that he became friends with before the war. The zeigers accepted Sukhinski’s offer for a hiding place and they also brought along a young orphan girl that was a family friend of theirs. This made the refugee count seven that was staying with Sukhinski. After a while, his neighbors found out that he was keeping Jews in his place and they began to blackmail the group in exchange for silence. Because of this one of the zeiger family members pulled out a pistol and he started firing at the neighbors which ended up getting him killed. After this happened, the zeigers fled to the woods in fear that the nazis heard the gunshots and were coming their way. But they never found another hiding place in the woods so they just came back to Sukhinski. For 9 months, the refugees stayed down in that cellar while sukhinski tried to scavenge enough food for them not to starve to death. In the end when the nazis left poland the refugees came out of the cellar barely able to walk and they went their own separate ways. Sukhinski showed lots of love and bravery to the 6 people that survived during the holocaust.
