APPLICATION QUESTIONS

1. It is the role of the Student Trustee to portray the "diverse and dynamic voice" of the student population regarding board-wide matters. How would you work with staff and the Board of Trustees to ensure that the voices of all students are heard around the Board table?

I feel that communication is a vital part of being a student trustee, but it's not just a matter of communication with students, it's also important to ensure that information gets the attention it deserves at higher levels. If chosen to be one of the HWDSB student trustees one of my top priorities would be to ensure that there are a diverse range of voices being heard. What you would like to accomplish in the first 100 days of being a student trustee, should you be selected. Explain both your plan and your methods of achieving that plan.
(please note this question and answer will be repeated in the interview, please keep a copy of your plan and bring it with you if you are selected for an interview) Should I be selected for Student Trustee I would want to get an immediate start, I would do some preparation/ brainstorming in June and July so that by the time August comes and the Trustee term starts I am ready and prepared. I would start my plan by networking first, introducing myself to the board members and trustees to establish a professional business relationship with them. My primary focus in my first couple of months weeks would be to deal with the communication barrier between the students and the board, I will find an efficient, and safe way students can communicate with me. At this point, I would like to establish a good relationship with the Communications Department, and figure out what some potential solutions could be.I would like to have posters distributed and social media released introducing me (and my potential co- trustee) explaining who we are and what Student Trustee is. I believe that this will be very effective because I feel in past years this position has been under appreciated by students due to lack of knowledge of Student Trustee and
