I still hadn 't mastered the ability to land food in my mouth or hold a spoon correctly. I was running around getting dirty and playing in the mud in my search for independence I hid from my mother at the age of 2 next to the fridge. not realizing that it was dangerous to do so. as I heard her come closer I squeezed my way behind it and touched my leg to hot tube. I cried out and discovered that I had given myself a second-degree burn on my leg and the worst part was that I had lost in a game of hide-and-seek. At this stage my mom had done well in letting me be autonomous and make my own mistakes as well as teaching me a new skill so that I could do more things by myself. The aim has to be “self control without a loss of self-esteem” Success in this stage lead to the prudence of will. If children in this stage are encouraged and bolstered in their increased independence, they become more certain in their own capacity to be secure and survive in this world.
