In November of 2016, Donald J. Trump was elected president of the United States. A part of Trump’s platform is a hard stance on foreign policy, indicative in his speech on August 15th of 2016, before election; Trump spoke to his supporters about his attitude towards terrorism and the site Politico provided a transcript. Campaigning against Clinton and a staunch opponent of Obama’s administration, Trump believes “the rise of ISIS is the direct result of policy decisions made by President Obama and Secretary Clinton” (politico). Ideally, he would have liked to control the oil to prevent the rise of ISIS, through seizing their funding and keeping U.S. forces on ground to protect the oil (politico). Instead, after the problem arised, Trump wants to join forces with other powers, including Russia, and…

These are troubled times. The stock market crash is still affecting the American economy, even now, three years later. In fact, the situation is only getting worse. Stock value keeps falling: it is twenty percent what it was worth before the crash in 1929 ("About the Great Depression”). Banks are failing, and fear of their failure is causing the people to withdrawal their fund, which then causes the actual collapse of the financial institution.…

The Campaign of a Candidate 101 Working for our Community, who can bring it, Madison Nguyen is the slogan and chant that continues to ring in my ear, even when I go home after a difficult day of trying to support a local candidate. It has gone to the point where I dread hearing these very words because it is in every community rally and charity event that I have attended for the past three months. Ever since, I begun working on the campaign for Madison Nguyen, who is running for State AssemblyWomen in the city of San Jose. However, this job is definitely one of the few jobs that I definitely underestimated. Personally, I thought that by working in a campaign it would be like the movie The Candidate or looking into a computer screen for which districts have voted either for liberal or conservative candidates in the past four years.…

I think a lot of businesses are getting worried that the current presidential election would affect the economy in a negative way. I think the main thing many of them are worried about is how possible new taxes are going to affect their business depending on which political party take control of the White House, along with Congress. There are other concerns about things such as healthcare costs, minimum wage laws, income inequality, etc. They are very uncertain about what the future may hold for them and not sure which side they want to lean on, especially since the current president is not running for reelection. I think it makes it very hard for them to focus long-term about growing or expanding their…

The inaugural address made by the 45th president of the United States, like any president before him, had its fair share of soaring rhetoric. It was short, but defiant and will go down as one of the shortest inaugural speeches delivered in modern history. The New York Post observes the shortest speech ever delivered goes to George Washington for his second inaugural in 1793. The speech was bleak in its tone, but fiery in its delivery, yet it offered promise for a better future to many. Trump makes use of rhetorical techniques and as Romm, J. (2016) explains, it succeeds in getting the attention of the people and making ideas stick in their minds.…
