Trump Pros And Cons

Improved Essays
The Trump administration has been a topic of much heated debate the past couple of months which makes it a difficult subject to talk about because it is not simply a black and white answer, there are many shades of grey mixed in.
Our constitution protects against authoritarianism by putting into place the three branches of government, Legislative, Executive, and Judicial, to keep each other in check. When one power is becoming too great the other branches are there to combat it with checks and balances. James Madison states in the Federalist Papers, “The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced

I don’t believe in the way he is handling these issues but I do think that this is just simply conservative policy actions and think he is trying to do what he feels is right. Some of the concerns that I do have about his policies are, first, with the immigration ban, the fact that he called it a ‘Muslim-ban’ and second, the fact that he left off Saudi Arabia and Egypt makes me question his intentions for the ban. Both of these countries had an influence on the 9/11 attacks so if he was trying to prevent terrorist attacks on American soil, it would only make sense that these two countries would be included in the ban. It is also known that almost 99% of the deaths from terrorist attacks were due to citizens of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE, and Lebanon, and none of those countries are on this ban. This makes me suspicious that his ultimate motive is not to ban the countries involved with the majority of American deaths, but rather to ban countries with which the United States has few vested economic

How did the constitution guard against tyranny, in the government, and in the states? The 55 delegates who attended the Constitutional Convention were a distinguished body of men who represented a cross section of 18th-century American leadership. Almost all of them were well-educated men of means who were dominant in their communities and states, and many were also prominent in national affairs, met to write the new constitution, that would change the way that we lived forever. Led by the chief executive, the delegates all got together to write the new constitution, the articles of confederation were not keeping peace in the states or the government as well. The delegates wanted to guard against tyranny, as well as build a new frame for our government, and states.…

Alyssa Mattson 2A Current Event #3 Despite mutual agreement between the Republican and Democratic parties, the Senate still could not pass a bill enacting criminal justice reform. It was believed that this overhaul bill would be the “bipartisan success story of the year”, according to New York Times writer Carl Hulse. However, this was not the case. Some Republicans Senators disagreed with the idea of reducing minimum sentences, as well as providing President Obama with a “legacy victory” nearing the end of his presidency.…

Trump has issued new executive orders that have shocked not only Americans, but also people from all over the world. Basically what these orders are to do is that they are intended to ban Muslims from seven countries from entering the United States. Even those who have been living in America for quite a while are to be deported to their countries. What is more devastating is that students who had their student visas from their home countries to come study in the USA are no more welcomed here and have to face these new abnormal orders. I think the new executive order is definitely intended to discriminate against Muslims because there were no terrorist attacks performed from people who are from these 7 countries in the U.S.…

When the three branches of government were coming into existence, one could only hope that the Founding Fathers intended them to help serve balance in our government rather than give opportunities for certain people to oppress a minority or weaker entity. There is an emphasis on hope because history has confirmed our government’s capacity to corrupt circumstances of power for statesman and tyrants alike. Both the Federalists and Anti-federalists cast arguments against the system, deeming certain qualities of its structure with more merit than others. Of course, there were political agendas connecting too many aspects of special interests and political corruptness, however, the assembly and arrangement of particular checks on each power in each…

The constitution guards against tyranny (a form of government where the leader or leaders have absolute dictatorship over their people or domain) in many ways, some of which including the concepts of federalism, checks and balances, and the separation of powers. Checks and balances is the concept that each separate branch of government should ‘check’ on one another to keep the system in ‘balance’. Finally, the separation of powers is the idea that there should be separate branches of government, including the legislative, executive, and judicial…

Throughout history, many governments have fallen from unjust rulers. When Enlightenment came around, the idea of separating power came into play. “History shows that when one group with the same ideology is in power, tyranny and mass slaughter soon follow” (Connell). Too much power presented to one group or person leads to corruption and to prevent this, the Separation of Powers was created. The split power between the groups has protected against tyranny and corruption.…
