Truism: Can We Do Better?

Regardless of one's activity or position, one consistent truism is that one either continuously seeks to improve, or he will eventually stagnate and lose ground in his endeavors. In nearly everything we do, there is no option to merely maintain some sort of status quo, because attempting to tread water often leads to losing momentum and drowning. Optimizing our potential and thus creating the best opportunity to achieve our goals and objectives means that we must not only commit to, but actually take necessary steps and actions to continuously learn, improve, do better, tweek those aspects that are less than ideal, and seek better ways and approaches. When one fails to seek to become better, he invariably ends up falling back, losing ground, falling behind, losing relevance, and diminishing any opportunity for enhanced sustainability.

1. Many individuals proudly proclaim their willingness and desire to become better, but it is generally only the truly exceptional ones that transform that desire to meaningful and directed action. One can never improve without focusing on doing so, and that nearly always begins with realizing and admitting that there is a need to continuously learn every day, and that none of us will ever know everything and have all the answers. The cleverest amongst us are those that fully immerse themselves in continuously learning on a daily basis, while understanding that true learning is more than mere book learning, but requires utilizing the information and concepts learned, gaining experience using them, and transforming his training to learning, his learning to experience, the experience to expertise, the expertise to knowledge, and that knowledge to valuable and usable wisdom.
