A good story about a hero is about an eighteen year old who decided not to do drugs. His friends did drugs, and when they offered him some, and to join them in drug dealing, he did not want to disappoint them. But after some hard thought, even though it would make more than his current job, a Mcdonald's cook, he decided to stick with Mcdonald's. His friends kept asking him, and every time they asked, sticking to Mcdonald’s got harder and harder.(Stone 73) However, he didn’t give up. Heroes are just everyday people who do not give up. They stick to the right choice, and it always works out. They push through the rough times. Much like the 18 year old, who stuck with Mcdonald’s, despite lot’s of peer pressure. Also, not all heroes succeed the first time. Sometimes heroes fail, but even if they do, they stick to it. For example, Frederick Douglass said in his narrative, “It was life and death with me. But I remained firm, and, according to my resolution, on the third day of September, 1838, I left my chains, and succeeding in reaching new York without the slightest interruption of any kind” (Douglass 82) Even though Frederick Douglass was a slave, and he knew if he failed at escaping, he could have been killed, He kept waiting for the right moment to leave, and never gave up, and ended up escaping the clutches of his slave
