5. Troy Davis has been on death row in the state of Georgia since 1991. He was convicted on August 19, 1989 of the murder of Georgia police officer, Mark MacPhail. On August 24, 2010, the conviction was upheld, with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia declaring, “Davis is not innocent.” The judge did not say that Davis is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, implying that the standard for exoneration had been lifted unreasonably high. http://www.yourblackworld.com/2011/09/09/facts-you-may-not-know-about-the-troy-davis-case/ (ALL
I. The United States needs a change. The number of citizen’s sentence to the death penalty for 2012 is amazingly high and mostly African Americans. Many belief the blame is race and I honestly do not blame them. There is no other reason 71 African Americans have been killed due to our “honorable” court system. Not to include the number one argument that there were no weapons found with Davis

Grave Injustice the Anthony Graves Case After watching the Grave Injustice video, I feel that the Texas Courts are completely at fault in more reasons than one. But for this paper I only give 2 examples, one that the Texas prosecutor Charles Sebesta wrongfully accused Graves for the murder of a family in 1994 as well as withholding evidence. The second example I’ll be giving my opinion on is that the testimony of Robert Carter wrongfully accusing Graves for being an accomplice in this murder. First starting off with Charles Sebesta, Sebesta was wrong in all aspects of this case from withholding evidence and above all false testimony.…

An independent organization like the Innocence Project cannot possible get to everyone, so this requires a governmental effort for it to work. We also need to work in prevention, we cannot have more abuse from the detectives and prosecutors in charge of the cases. We have to find a way of making sure these suspects are not getting coerced into incriminating themselves without being guilty of anything. Finally we have to insure that every piece of evidence is weighed when making a decision on someone life, and whether we destroy it or not. Being that the testimonies of the witnesses were later recanted, and most of their testimonies were deemed inaccurate, it is safe to say that Troy Davis was wrongfully convicted. Also, the lineups were conducted by the lead investigator, and it is shown that the death penalty is sought out five times more when the victim is white, not black (Baldus et al., 1998). There was no physical evidence at the trial and since the testimonies were all they had, the jurors, who were of the Witt standard, had become desensitized to the imposition of the death penalty due to repeated exposure of the…
