Society would fear trolls for different reasons depending on how they were taught. One reason is because they were taught the “Scandinavian folklore, giant, monstrous being, sometimes possessing magic powers.”(www.britannica.com) Another reason people would be afraid is because they fear death. A third reason to fear trolls is because they defy Christ. Which is big because Christianity was a new thing in Europe because they saw trolls as wicked creatures. Trolls have made an appearance in many books, films, and shows. In the book “The Three Billy Goats Gruff” by Susan Blair, the troll lived under a bridge and was hungry for a billy goat. The troll was greedy and wanted to eat the biggest billy goat but that goat was so big he killed the troll and the goats ate him. “The billy-goats got so fat they could hardly walk home again.” (The Three Billy Goats Gruff by Susan Blair) Over time it seems trolls become less scary and more cute even though trolls are meant to be these very ugly creatures. In the movie “Frozen” the trolls were magical creatures who were made of stone based off the Scandinavian folklore except in “Frozen” they were small and cute. Also in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” there was a giant, slimy, ogre like troll attack in the Hogwarts bathroom where Harry, Ron, and Hermione defeated the troll. There are many other movies that have trolls in them. “Troll Hunter”(2011) where a group of kids ago into a forest to investigate killings. “The Troll” won best horror film in 1986.
