Tris From The Divergent Series

Decent Essays
My favorite character of all time is definitely Tris from the Divergent Series. Among the many books I have read Tris has always stood out to me due to her determination and defiance. Unlike most characters we read about, Tris seeks her own truth and answers rather than assume what she has been told is true. Amazingly enough this series has kept me chewing on my nails for several years now. I started the first book, Divergent, in my late middle school years. I read the last book up until the beginning of my Sophomore year. So, it has been roughly a year possibly slightly more since I read the amazing final book of the divergent series.

In the stories we’ve read, common traits for the characters are bravery and romance. What is bravery? The definition of bravery is "Courageous behavior or character", but it's deeper than that. Bravery isn't a skill you inherit from your parents, it is something you learn and acquire through your actions.…

Susan Smith from the War That Saved My Life is my favorite literary protagonist because she worked hard to provide a good life for the children and she saved the kids from a life of danger, risked her own life for the kids, and wasn't the cookie cutter mold for an ideal person because her flaws were shown and how much she needed the kids just as much they needed her. Susan Smith is my favorite literary protagonist because she worked hard to provide a good life for the kids. Susan made a conscious effort to raise the children, even though she had no experience and had originally been forced into doing it. She used her money to buy the kids food and clothes and worked extremely hard to educate the kids, especially Ada because they refused to let her into school.…

In seventh grade, my reading experience went farther downhill. The teacher expected us to do projects reflecting over what we had read every time we finished a book, with a minimum of five per trimester. I hated doing these reflection projects, so my quantity of reading fell further to just five books every three months. However, the final nail in the coffin of my reading came in eighth grade. On the first day of school, the teacher informed us that the only genre we would be allowed to read for out reading logs, which were unnecessarily complicated, was nonfiction.…
