Trip To Statue Of Liberty

Decent Essays
People debate all the time whether they should book a trip to visit the Statue of Liberty. The answer is obvious. Yes! I’ve been to Statue of Liberty at least three times and haven’t gotten sick of the experience. My personal favorite is riding a ferry across the Hudson and viewing Liberty and Ellis island. It’s also a great historical trip. Finally the view. Seeing the streets of New York from 305 feet hight isn’t something you would want to miss. You definitely won’t regret visiting the one and only Statue of Liberty.

Whenever someone travels to a new location they may not realize how much history truly lies before them. Some students including myself would actually enjoy learning about the place they visit by taking a city tour and actually seeing all these sights instead of reading about it from a textbook in a boring classroom. For example, when I went on a family vacation a couple of years ago I learned more information about the beautiful city of Puerto Vallarta than I would have ever learned in a classroom. The information that I obtained from the trip varied from how the city was built all those years ago to how much the people of the city truly do respect…

East Liberty is a cultural diverse area in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's East End. Its beginnings came around the time of the Revolutionary War and East Liberty was a free, grazing area in Allegheny County a few miles away from a burgeoning new town called Pittsburgh. Back then the term "liberty" was used to describe a plot of land on the outskirts of a town. In about 1843, commercialism began industrializing the area, thus changing the formerly farmland to a village. In the 1960's shopping malls were added to aid in localizing business.…

America’s Promise This quote, “ I believe in the promise of America. Being a Cuban refugee, having come here when I was eight, I know that this is a shining city on the hill.” , is by Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. Ros-Lehtinen’s quote apprehends the American dream the same way, Franklin D. Roosevelt's essay, “Address on the Occasion of the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Statue of Liberty”, and Frank Leslie's, illustration, “Scene on the Steerage Deck” does because they all three acknowledge the American dream as a land of liberty and escapades.…

Liberty’s Exiles Liberty’s Exiles by Maya Jasanoff, follows Americans who remained loyal to the crown during the American Revolution. Jasanoff uses the effects the revolution had upon these loyalists, such their inability to bring the majority of their belongings with them when they fled America and how the British Empire reacted to such complications, as a way to argue what she claims is the “Spirit of 1783.” As a secondary theme she argues the concept of the loyalists’ exodus from America to every corner of the British Empire as a diaspora. She carefully goes over the impact the loyalists had upon the areas they settled in, such as the Bahamas where the population doubled or Sierra Leone, where they became a part of a colony of ex-slaves. In this regard, Liberty’s Exiles is similar in style to Daniel Rodgers’ Atlantic Crossings.…

When I visited George Washington my sophomore year of high school, I instantly knew that your school is where I wanted to go for college. It just wasn't like any of the other colleges that I had seen before, and for that matter it was unlike any I have seen since. I saw that GW is in a beautiful location and that its presence in the capitol greatly enhances both its value and the city’s around it. I really liked walking around the campus, as it was extremely vibrant. I saw that safety is also important, and the combination of security that holds jurisdiction in this area is extremely reassuring.…

The Freedom Trail in Boston is meant to take you on a journey about the creation of America. It leads visitors to places such as the State House and the Park Street Church, all places that housed important events for the formation of America. It includes the story of John Hancock, a young, white, wealthy, politically influential man who headed the boycott against British goods to weaken their grip over the colony’s economy. Or perhaps one will hear of the story of Samuel Adams, another young, white, wealthy, politically influential man who helped lead movements such as the Boston Tea Party and other movements that would lead to the coming of the American Revolution. This unabashed Patriotism would make it hard to believe that John Hancock only…
