Trip To Knott

Looking through the lens of retrospect hasn’t truly helped me decide the question: If I could go back and change the decision I made last August, would I? The choice I made to skip a line to save about an hour of our time was risky, careless, and poorly planned, but technically it was a success. If only no one had questioned us in our attempt, then this would barely be an inside joke, much less an essay.
After our first experience at Magic Mountain, my siblings and I had the bug. The thrilling, heart-beating, white-knuckled bug of high-speed, high-altitude roller coasters. We spent our entire summer of 2016 recalling our test of bravery and discussing future trips to theme parks to do it again. The original plan was to go the Tuesday before school started, but our Mom’s ill-timed sickness made a trip to Knott’s impossible. Our activity was instead postponed, giving us two weeks of Knott’s-less, school-filled depression. When the day

The day contained many great, memorable experiences, including many first-time rides for Tatum.
Since we waited to go on a Saturday, Luke, Abby, Tatum, Shane, and I endured numerous long lines. By the time the sun had set over Orange County, many of the park visitors, including my party, were making their way to that last ride of the day . Since it was the one decent ride we hadn’t been on that day, the Pony Express was our choice to be the finishing ride. Looking at the line, you wouldn’t have thought it would take any more than forty minutes, but because of the attraction’s lack of seating capacity and a long loading time, getting to the loading dock took upwards of an hour and a half. Previously, Luke had told us about a strategy he and Jace used when they had come

A few years ago, on a class trip, my friends had asked me to ride at least one roller coaster. It was not a large roller coaster, but it made me queasy just looking at it. I was confident that I would be able to go on and enjoy the experience. My confidence quickly evaporated when we began climbing up the roller coaster’s first hill. The ride dropped, and I was screaming so loudly that I could only hear myself.…

I remember the gut wrenching feeling in my stomach as my best friend and I approached the tallest and fastest roller coaster at Hershey Park, called SkyRush. I am not sure why I agreed to go on this roller coaster, considering most of the time at amusement parks I entertain myself with food, and miniature rides that stay level to the ground. Unlike me, my friend liked the rush and heart dropping feeling of being at the apex of a roller coaster and then dropping down at maximum speed. Personally, I preferred the ground, where I remained in full control of my own safety. Yet that afternoon I found myself standing in line for SkyRush.…

My friend, Odina, was laughing beside me the whole time; she did not know how worried and anxious I was about this devastating rollercoaster. It is called the Iron Rattler, and it stood at a height of one hundred-eighty feet tall. The other passengers were energized with excitement, anxiety, and fear. I felt uncomfortable getting on the rollercoaster because I thought I was going to die. I thought maybe the rollercoaster would fall…

When we arrived at Six Flags, I bolted out of my car faster than lightning. I wanted to ride the biggest and most dangerous roller coaster there. I was probably one of the most craziest kids there, but I didn’t care. As I was looking for one, I smelled food. A little meal couldn’t hurt me, so I got one.…

When we got there, we decided to go in the single riders line, since the single riders line is usually faster than the regular line. And so we waited and after what seemed like a million years (actually milliseconds), we finally got to get on the ride. “Finally, we get to get on the ride,” I said. And it started out pretty slow,…

Then the third gate was the worst, who could hear people screaming their heads off, and feel the ground shake like there was an earthquake, and it was our turn next!!! I was TERRIFIED, Claire had fingernail marks in her arm, and as our cart emptied of the people before us, I got light headed, I vaguely remember getting in and buckled. I started to take deep breaths I was starting to feel better when I felt how secure the harnesses were. But then we started to move, at first it was okay, slow and easy going around the first corner, but then I saw the unbelievable hill that was 170 ft tall, this ride brakes 7 different records in the world and one is it’s got the longest drop for a wing coaster!!! Slowly climbing to the top, felt longer than the car ride!…

It was the largest, most thrilling roller coaster yet to be found. I didn't believe it but knowing my best friend Prisa she was not gonna let me miss out on as she would always say, “once in a lifetime opportunities”. It was a hot, sunny day as the sun lit up the whole park. The blunt air had no wind or even a soft gentle breeze. It was just plain old humid and to add on to that, we were crowded with a solid 200 people in the line,…

Once we got off the bus, we had to walk a little bit because we couldn’t park on the normal parking lot since we rode a bus. At last, we reached the amusement park. When we got through security, and got our tickets we had to wait a little bit for everyone to get through security.…

When we think of amusement parks, such as Disney and Six flags there is no learning involve. Let alone does anyone ever think that one could help them understand a tragedy like 9-11. We only think of fun, laughter, games, and roller coasters. We do not see swamps based on the Vietnam war or roller coasters based on OJ Simpson car chase in 1994. It seems so unusual for some people to have a theme park like this.…

We were walking with Baylee in front, Abby following her, Tiffany next, Megan after her, and Alyssa dragging behind with me.…
