TWO PLACES
Traveling to Guatemala has made me appreciate the United States a whole lot more. I just got back from there not too long ago, I was visiting some friends and got the chance to visit the city of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala also named Xela. During my visit I could see the differences and similarities is has where I live now. In this paper I’m going to write about Russellville Alabama and Quetzaltenango Guatemala, there similarities and differences in transportation, sports, and food. I realizes how easy it is for me to get in my car and drive to where I need to be easily, but after visiting Guatemala and seeing how difficult transportation can be. I realized how thankful I should be of our transportation. The vehicles used in both places can be similar, brands like Toyota, Ford, and Chevrolet. The only difference is the difficulty it is to get around, not everyone can afford a vehicle there and rely on public buses. The traffic is very busy and absurd in Quetzaltenango, In Russellville the traffic is very calm and stable. One place is mountainous and the other is very flat. In my hometown the major sport around is Football. In Quetzaltenango the major sport is Football also, but we call it soccer. The can be similar in a way but different also. The sport is played with a ball which is similar,

I enjoyed traveling thru the beautiful mountains, volcanos, and curvy roads of Xela. It’s quite different in my hometown and is something you don’t see much in my hometown. The sports play here in Russellville can be similar, but the major sport is different. One place plays football and the other plays soccer football. The food between the two places and be similar, but also different. I enjoyed visiting Guatemala and encourage every American to go there to sightsee and really appreciate where we live

The Midwest is home to states with rich cultural backgrounds and popular tourist attractions. To take a break from the busy schedule I have as a student, and to avoid writing more essays like this, I went on a vacation to Michigan with my mother and two siblings. We visited South Haven, a pleasant port city on Lake Michigan’s east coast, and Detroit, the famous largest city in Michigan. These areas interest me because there’s plenty to do; there are amazing restaurants, breath-taking scenery, and family-friendly, inexpensive entertainment. South Haven is famed for its relaxed atmosphere and homely feel.…

In the 19 years I have been alive, I have lived in three states, five towns, eight houses, and now, two countries. Right before I finished high school my parents decided to move to Guatemala. I welcomed the change because I had been visiting Guatemala every summer since I was 15, and my heart always seemed at peace there. The closest I perpetually felt at home was when I lived in Guatemala, though I resided there for a short time. Every day greeted me with words rolling off my tongue I previously did not know, the taste of delicious and unique foods, and a breathtaking landscape, complete with the view of an active volcano outside of my bedroom window.…

Guatemala City, a city founded in 1776 by Spanish Conquistadors is a mixture of modern, colonial, and pre-Columbian attributes and has been presented as the “gateway to all other places in Guatemala. During these two tumultuous decades of urbanization, urban planners and public health politicians, key actors of Guatemala City who made up the ladino elite proposed to modernize the country. Modernization is not only as the dictionary says, “a model of progressive transition from a ‘pre-modern’ or ‘traditional’ to a ‘modern’ society”; such a model allows for open interpretation. The City of Guatemala is distributed into 25 zones, and in the 1930s through 1940s, according to Luis Vielman, an urban planner of Guatemala, saw the construction of infrastructure for public areas and housing where many Guatemalans moved into or helped build. For instance, the Hospital Roosevelt, the central hospital of Guatemala was located in the eleventh zone of the city and where most Public Health officials spent most of their hardworking days.…
