Trinity College’s mission functions not just as a foundation, but also as a thinking person’s mantra for life. What is the unexamined life, but wasted time something akin to Macbeth’s “life is but a poor player who struts and frets his hour upon the stage and is heard no more…” The unexamined life is not worth living because it fails to be satisfying to the mind, body and soul. College is a time to explore a variety of interests and engaging in our interests can lead us to a unbiased opinion about ideas from the world around us. Studying at Trinity College can serve as a time for personal reflection about what one’s purpose is in life. My hope is to closely examine my purpose and I know a well rounded education will be instrumental in this

An invigorating drive rushes through me while I devote my time and resources volunteering for citizens in need. Furthermore, I believe citizens should contribute to the care of impoverished communities. Through my volunteer work during a holiday party, I interacted with many families from diverse ethnic backgrounds. The event was locally held at Harford’s Billings Forge-a low income community housing complex. A young mother and father were grateful for serving food to them and providing a place for their children to embrace a youthful, vibrant, and safe night to celebrate within the care of the facilities and volunteers in the room. My perspective was altered as I realized this opportunity for families to dine with an abundance of food, receive presents that few could afford, and celebrate without the concern of their safety, arrived infrequently. I returned to this event, empowered to collaborate with volunteers to benefit a greater magnitude of families. Ultimately, an act of kindness (a gracious act) can provide to the wellbeing of society altogether. Embracing opportunities as part of my Trinity College experience will open a broader capability for my drive to connect inside a tight knit community and access a population greater than
