Before we are even born God already has a plan for us. Even though he has a plan for us it is part of our jobs to try and figure out what path God wants us to go down. There are different events and people that shape who we are and where we head in our lives. We are trying to further our lives and follow God’s plan and that plan is to go into ministry. We need to see how we even got to the point of where we are now. By doing this we need to know who helped form us, what society or environment we are in, and even what classes we take in college. How did we get where we are today? Well first we need to look at the people who helped form us. This would include people such as family, friends, colleagues and even ones church. For me the family …show more content…
I need to put this much effort in if I want to satisfy the Lord and to further his kingdom. To be able to do this I need to learn how to even go about teaching in a ministry and the classes I have taken so far here at Trinity have definitely influenced me. I am currently in two Church and Ministry classes and they have been such a huge impact on me. The first class being CHML 202 which is a focus on youth ministry. This class is slowly helping me learn what it takes to have a successful youth ministry if that is the desired field of ones’ choice. This class has helped open my eyes to one small section of ministry and realize how much work it takes to do ministry even if it is youth ministry which seems like the easiest of ministries. The other Church and Ministry class that has influenced me while being at Trinity is CHML 101. This class has encouraged us to think deeply and about ideas that we have never really thought about before. We have been reading books that help us get a better perspective on what ministry could look like and one of those books that has been a good insight is The Pastor by Eugene Peterson. I have considered being a pastor later on in my life and reading this book has been an interesting and great insight. We have been writing haiku’s for this book and one of the haiku’s that I wrote was this, “Vocation or Job? Pastor a secular job? In us God worships.” When I read this about being a pastor, I realize that so many people treat being a pastor as a job and that is the wrong way to approach that. It is so easy to get burnt out in doing this but as Cyneatha and also Matt said when they both guest spoke in our class that we need to be involved with other duties outside of the church and further God’s kingdom that way. We need to

I could not fathom why God would want me to serve his church and his people when there were obviously more qualified people he could choose. This was definitely a stumbling block for me early in my ministry. I doubted my abilities and calling and therefore, didn’t totally surrender my life or calling to God. Thankfully, we have a God that, in spite of my weaknesses, used me to further his kingdom and reach people that don’t yet know Him. Those experiences and interactions helped to confirm my calling in full-time…

Pastors must be servant-leaders and not lord it over their flock. Gregory presents important points with much wisdom that pastors would do well to follow as an example. There are some (many) who should not be in pastoral ministry because they lead their flock astray. This is due to the fact that there are pastors who do not have sound doctrine which leads to wolves invading the flock. One must be called into pastoral ministry by God in order to do this important work.…

However, I am reminded by Ephesians 3:20 that God is able to do “exceedingly abundantly above all that [I] ask or think, according to the power that works in [me].” That is why I pray to God that in my future, somehow, these two fields can merge together so I can create the large impact on my community that I desire. There would be exceeding joy in my heart if I can serve the community by fighting for various individuals in the court of law as a public defender and also have a profession in the church that involves teaching the Word of God to the youth at the same time. Yet, concerning leadership in ministry in the church, I haven’t had that experience.…
