Trimet: A Short Story

Improved Essays
Trimet is the public transportation use of Portland; buses, max(train), and others. Yet no matter which one you go on there is gonna be a crazy person. I mainly use the buses which have the most crazy people I’ve found. The max has many too but it’s more formal. People use the bus when they want to get to a more random area. The maxx carries more people to more dense areas. The bus(good lord). I have many stories and incidents on the bus. I'll tell a few of them. Let’s see once I was at 27th and Sandy and this crazy lady on the otherside of the street. I was like “dang she is nuts”. Just my luck she cross’ the street to get on my bus. When it finally arrives we both get on I go to the back to sleep and just go home. I don’t have my headphones so that sucks but whatever. As im trying to sleep she starts to yell. Yes yell very loud and in various noises and gurgles. For as long as she was on the bus which was about half an …show more content…
When I was awaken by a 40 year old man wearing a baseball cap. He says “sorry I didn't mean to wake you”. So I try to go back to sleep but he taps my shoulder again, I turn to him and he says to me “ you’re cute”
I say “thank you”
Than he says “ do you have a girlfriend”
“yes I do (back when I did)”
“she’s one lucky girl”
What the hell that was the creepiest moment of my life. So I try to as smoothly move farther away from him. We don’t talk the rest of the bus ride but when he gets off he winks at me. That was one creep as $h1t guy and I did not like a single second of it. I’ve met sain people too. I have met a guy who is a bartender who commented on my shirt, a man wearing the same jacket I owned. One time the bus I was on got stuck in snow. So everyone rocked the bus till it got free. To later break down and I had to wait for another bus to come. Some unspoken bus rules:
If someone is wearing headphones don’t talk to them.
If a spot opens up in a better spot it’s ok to take

At the beginning of my Christmas break, I was sitting by a smoky, hot fire with some hot coco with marshmallows in it with a warm blanket on a cold day. On the second day of break, I was riding my four wheeler drifting on the icy roads trying to go get more wood for my family's fire at my grandma and grandpa's house .But when I got there and there was a big puff of smoke in the back and it smelled like a fire so I ran back there, but it was just my grandma and grandpa making a fire so they could roast marshmallows so I joined and roasted marshmallows with them then I got my wood and rode back home.…

Well, on this day it was “Throwback Thursday” and my friends and I decided that we were going to dress up as TLC. So, that day we talked about everything that we had planned to wear and we decide that we wanted to wear bandanas.…

Buses, like trains, could provide transportation in mass to those who pay to go from one place to another. The benefit of buses was that they traveled through suburban areas, and even rural areas back and forth on a daily basis. These buses were on a schedule, and can even go places trains couldn’t, as they were limited by the placement of the train tracks. The trucks, also like trains, could provide transportation of supplies like food, furniture, and other things. Trucks were large and drove similarly to cars, as well as using fuel like cars, and had the same benefit that buses had over trains.…

My worst commute to work was when I was in my early 20 's and living in San Diego. I was in college full-time and working part-time at a mall that was about 30 minutes away by car, but took me three times that by bus and trolley. I would sometimes have to walk the two miles from the trolley station to my house, which included walking uphill, downhill, and across two freeway entrances. It was only really bad in the summer in 100-plus degree heat and at night, when the weirdos and drug addicts roamed around like stray dogs in packs. Late one night, when my ride didn 't show up as planned, I had to walk home and was stopped and nearly assaulted by a strange man that was arrested just weeks later for murder.…
