he knew jake was cheesy, corny; all of those things but damn if he didn’t say some things they were up to par with the horrendous jokes danny still carried with him into adulthood. this had to be one of the worst he’d hurt in a wall, even if it was endearing and pleasing to hear.

it got danny to laugh, low and genuine as he closed the gap between them. his hand fit at the side of his neck, foreheads leaned together. even if they’d kissed well over a hundred times with or without tacky one-liners or puns his chest always swelled up with unspoken satisfaction that they were here.

through everything they’d gone through so far and the trifles they had yet to face,
