Johnny is comfortable with how he is, he isn't afraid of death because he knew that he did make a positive difference in multiple people’s lives. Johnny starts out as a young, fragile, scared teen who cannot protect himself but, he later transforms himself into a strong young man who sticks up for other people who can't help themselves.
Johnny’s decision to kill Bob was by far, the biggest impact on Ponyboy and for the story as a whole. As the boys were casually taking a stroll around a local park after a heated argument at Pony’s house, they were jumped by a group of Soc’s. The gang of handsome, young, rich high schoolers slowly stepped out of there fancy Corvair. While the hammered gang of Socs approached, Johnny instantly realized that the leader of the group was Bob, Cherry Valances boyfriend, and the same Soc who brutally beat Johnny and almost killed him after an unwanted run in a while back. Being selfless is one of the most important traits a human can experience. Even though Johnny may have been a fragile boy at the start of the novel, he learns are to grow stronger and overcome many obstacles while still giving his life for a cause that deemed him as a hero. Ponyboy became stronger form everything he has experienced with his life. Many people throughout their life need pain in order to grow as a human being, this is a perfect example with Ponyboy. Everyone’s life will come to an end one day, that is something we can’t control, but we all can control if we want to make a difference in people's lives, it is our choice to live for others and learn how to gain the virtue of being
