Brooklyn was a girl I used to hang out with whenever I was in high school. She was the first person to introduce herself to me when I attended my new high school. She was a really good friend and was always nice to me and since I was new to the school, she made me feel like I wasn 't alone and had someone to talk to. We would play volleyball a lot and play her x-box whenever I went over to her house after school. She was kind of tall and slim, so when we played volleyball, she would normally beat me very bad because she was in better shape than I was. We would be together all the time, doing all kinds of different things. Both of us were really enjoying our years of high school, and preparing to spend our college years together, but things started to change with her. She started dating this guy who would abuse her and she was always making excuses for him. She would cancel our plans all the time. During our senior year of high school, she found out she was pregnant. Shortly after finding out about the pregnancy, she went into a deep depression and dropped out of high school. She quit taking care of herself, she was hardly eating, and became so thin you could see her bones. I remember going over to her house one day and she was just sitting in her room with tears streaming down her face. I slowly walked in, put my arms around her and asked her what was wrong. She told me that she had finally left her abusive boyfriend so that she can do better for her baby. Even though I knew it was for the best, it didn’t help how bad I felt for her. I knew she was hurting deeply and was heartbroken. I wanted to just squeeze her and tell her that it’s for the best, but I knew she didn’t need to hear that from me. So, we just sat in silence for
