Tri 3 Final Poem Analysis Overall the poem was really good and had a great meaning behind it. It tells the story of a journey we all go on. A journey that is tough for some people and easy for others. A journey everyone realizes is too short and can never be long enough. A journey that is called life. I thought the poem was really good. I really liked the way Shakespeare actually broke it down into the seven sections/stages of life. Although if you look closely he broke it down even further. He turned the world into a stage, the players, their entrances and exits, and the parts they all play with every act being a different age. I thought it was a unique way to express his thoughts. I think since Shakespeare is comparing life to a play,

Shakespeare’s imagination was unlimited and he found things most people would not find appealing or attractive. We often think about the endpoint of a journey and not the actual journey itself. The poem,“On Turning Ten” by Billy Collins focuses on this, but on the journey of life. In this poem, Collins tells the reader how growing up in life has rough changes to us, and our journey gets harder as we go on. The author emphasizes on the landmark of passing double digits, and what lies ahead from this. By using metaphors and imagery, the author shows that as we get further into our journey of life, everyone goes through and reflects on the process of leaving their past and growing up, which is where we change and deal with the pain and sadness.…

This poem emits happiness and peace. I feel like the blessing that James Wright is trying to describe in this poem is nature and life. All we pay attention to is the destination at the end of the “highway”, when there are moments in life that we are meant to enjoy without distractions or worries. When these friends “step over the barbed wire into the pasture”, it symbolizes them crossing over that stress and that constant need of being productive, into what life is really about, which is nature, family, friends, love, and happiness. The “loneliness” that the ponies are feeling conveys how nature wants and was meant to be appreciated and relished.…

The poem I chose, “Happiness” by Jane Kenyon, describes what happiness truly is. It tells a story of who it comes to, and how happiness comes to everyone no matter what the situation is. The poem says in the beginning 2 paragraphs how happiness is always there and that it “saved its most extreme form for you alone”. I believe what the Kenyon is trying to say at that moment is that you have the power to be happy, even when you are alone. The poem also has very specific examples of who happiness comes to.…

Hello, I chose the poem “Spelling Father” by Marshall Davis-Jones. The reason that I chose this poem and what spoke to me was the fact that this was a young man that was fatherless. When he was explaining everything that mothers do for their children, it just spoke to me on how so many children grow up without having their fathers in their lives. I would describe the writer’s writing style as one who uses many metaphors to organize his poem verse by verse. There were many words used in the poem like cleaned, hugged, and kisses, all to describe his mother doing the things he wished his father did for him.…
