SOCIAL MEDIA IS ON THE RISE

Social media is more popular at present than ever before, and it will continue to grow in popularity very rapidly in the years to come. Currently, there are over 2 billion active social media users worldwide, and by 2020, this number should increase to about 3 billion. (https://www.statista.com/statistics/278414/number-of-worldwide-social-network-users/) 97 percent of adults aged 16-64 that are online say that they have used social media within the last month. By 2012, the average internet user had approximately three social media accounts, whereas today, internet users have an average of seven. Businesses are also interested in using new technology to increase sales and make more money; they are primarily drawn into social media by the people that use it and their ways of creating, publishing, sharing, interacting, and transacting. Observations have been made regarding numerous different social media trends. First of all, live video streaming really dominates social media, the more engagement with the audience through real time video the better, as it helps make your brand name more popular. Another uncomplicated and effective form of advertising via social media that has really taken off in the last while would be social slideshow ads, as they are easy to make and they catch the eye of the consumer, leaving a memorable image in their mind. A third useful tool is the brand new Instagram story, where followers can view updates on what’s happening with their favourite brands by viewing their it. First, you must know who you are. You have to be able to understand your own identity and the identity of your brand before you go and advertise it on social media. Second, don’t wait until after the fact, what you say can’t go against what the company actually does, but rather, you have to be able to live up to your advertisements. Another key point to remember is to understand your audience, and know why they use social media in order to grab the attention of your target market. Next, be sure you don’t make assumptions about your audience. Don’t think that your audience will react a certain way just because you think they will, instead, get the facts! An important potential investment would be a social media expert, someone who knows exactly how to manage your social media accounts in order to make your job easier. Don’t just assume that your presence on social media means you know everything about it, as a business social media account is very different from a personal social media account. Decide what works for your audience and what doesn’t. And finally, don’t get comfortable, but instead, be creative and find new ways to get your audience engaged in your product or
