There are many forms of climate-research methods. Also, greenhouse gases have trapped heat in the atmosphere affecting climate change. One of the forms of climate-research methods are tree rings. In climate-research tree rings are used because trees have growth rings which can show how many years the tree has been through, the weather, and the growth season that the tree has endured. Ice cores are also used in climate-research. An ice core is a thick piece of ice taken from a glacier. The is snow and ice that has been packed together over the span of many years. Both of these are very useful methods of climate-research.

When working with ice cores there are many precautions that must be taken. The ice core has to be kept at certain temperature where as a tree ring does not. The tree rings and ice cores are also located in different regions. Tree rings do not display anything involving the ocean or the gases like ice cores do. The tree ring is made up of growth layers and the ice core is packed together material. The ice core sample is harder to retrieve than a tree ring. Ice cores show all seasons, where tree rings show the growing time of the tree. There are many things that make the two methods very different.
Both of these methods are very effective to conduct climate change research. Scientists are still working to improve the research methods. Also they are still working to see how human activity can affect the climate change. The ice core method is more effective than tree rings because the tree rings are based off the trees growth.
