“Chapter Ten” starts off at the point that Tree-ear begins his journey. Linda Sue Park, the author, explains how Tree-ear goes one day and one village at a time, on his journey. He has a sufficient amount of food, money, and sleeping equipment. For food, Tree-ear had Ajima’s spectacular rice cakes and a tasty surprise, called gokkam. However, Tree-ear continues on his journey with no problems so far. As Tree-ear travels on the mountain path, the scenery begins to look more familiar. The trees on the mountain path are the same type trees that are in Ch’ulp’o: maple, oak, pine, and wild plum. Furthermore, as time goes on, Tree-ear begins to search for shelter.
