The Treaty of Versailles may have ended the war and its suffering but it does not make it part of a just war. A just war means that a war is fair; everything in it is done out of necessity, no innocents are harmed and nether country plays dirty or unfair. The Treaty of Versailles however was not that as it removed a lot from a country who didn’t start the war and left them defenseless and broke. The treaty made sure that Germany had to take the blame for the war as they had to sign a war guilt clause (C N Trueman,” The Treaty of Versailles”, http://www.historylearningsite.co.uk). This would have been just should Germany had started the war but unfortunately they did not, the war instead was started due to the assassination of Franz Ferdinand (an Austrian next in line for the throne) by a Yugoslavian man named Gavrilo Princip to celebrate Slavic nationalism (CrashCourse, “HOW World War I Started: Crash Course World History 209,” www.youtube.com.). …show more content…
This is unjust because Germany didn’t start the war and therefore shouldn’t have to sign a war guilt clause or pay for money to the other countries, if Germany were to pay the money off in the treaty their economy would be in ruins and many families would be homeless or starve making innocents suffer which is also very unjust. Additionally, the Treaty of Versailles reduced the German military down to 100,000 and diminished the Germans navy and aircraft capability’s by limiting the amount of ships they could have to 6 and the amount of air force weapons to 0(C N Trueman,” The Treaty of Versailles”,
