Treatment for Love Addiction and Child Welfare Empirical evidence and research findings are minimal in regards to love addiction. Most recent research, articles, and suggestions regarding treatment have been only recognizing sex addiction as a form of addiction closely linked to substance addiction. In researching an outlined treatment for love addiction, not a single resource was found. No medication is approved for such treatment to aid in recovering from love addiction. “However, the management of romantic despair and of “love withdrawal” has been widely discussed by psychotherapists” (Reynaud, Karilia, Blecha, & Benyamina, 2010, p.265). Assessment of need for treatment of love addiction is often only administered or discussed once an individual reports consequences related to romantic love. Recommendations of treatment regarding love addiction are often clinical/non researched therapeutic approaches on an individual level (i.e. motivational interviewing).
