First off, pirates were well known for looting ships and making people walk the plank.
In the novel Treasure Island, it talks about a ship headed to treasure island but some of the members are planning a mutiny. The other crew members who are not part of the mutiny know about it but haven’t taken action. If this were real pirates they would begin a dual making sure the others don’t get the treasure all for themselves. Also in the novel Treasure Island, the pirates are looking for gold, but the treasure was not always gold or silver. According to 10 Myths and Facts about Pirates, it states that “...a pirates treasure did not always include gold or silver, most of it was food, lumber, cloth, and animal hides.” This means that some items like food were just as important as gold or silver. In the text 10 Myths and Facts about Pirates, it shares many interesting facts and myths like the fact that pirates did wear eye patches. Also, each ship had a set of rules everyone had to follow. Among these rules was no fighting on the ship. On page 158 of the novel, Treasure Island it states “It showed me Hands and his companion locked together in deadly wrestle,” Unless for some reason this particular ship did not have “no fighting onboard” in their set of rules, then the men are breaking the rules on the ship. Also, in the novel Treasure Island it always talks about rum and how the pirates always want rum but they have not once mentioned Grog.
