The classic novel Treasure island, written by Robert Louis Stevenson and adapted into two films in 1934 and 2002 have two themes shown effectively, those themes are Exploration and crime . In this essay I will be showing you how the themes of exploration and crime are shown throughout treasure planet and i will explain some other minor themes like greed.

The movie treasure planet is a very different movie because in the book there in a clear adventure and nautical feel but treasure planet is sci-fi and adventure. In most books that go turned into a movie have the same themes and genres for example: Alice In Wonderland is very true to the classic written by lewis carroll in 1865 but this is my personal opinion.

Exploration

The theme of exploration is shown evidently throughout treasure planet, for example, when jim enters the ship in treasure planet, adventure is shown because the ship is a huge convention because boarding the ship means the start of this grand adventure. Another way this theme is shown is when near the end of the movie when long john silver and jim are trying to escape the booby trapped planet because when they set off the traps they are trying to escape and escaping somewhere gives

Some ways that these two themes are shown is by the pirates. Pirates are known for being devious law breakers and very greedy. When Long John Silver arrives at treasure island one of the first things he does is claim what he can get is “his” although technically it all belongs to Billy Bones by default but his greediness goes by the the rule of “if you touch is is is mine”. The theme of crime is also related to the pirates but this time most pirates are criminals that break into places and are thieves.

So as I have explained the 3 themes of Exploration, Crime and Greed are some of the most clear themes in treasure island and treasure

The first theme is standing up for what matters to you. The author, Ria Voros, communicates her theme effectively by showing this in the main character as she stands up for what matters to her. An example in the text is when she stood up for james by making posters. It mentioned in the story what poster she was making “I speak to no one, hunch over my computer, type, cut/paste, download and with all the artistic talent I possess, create” (pg.182). This shows that she is standing up for her friend by using her artistic talent to show everyone that James was something to her.…

As a start, the theme of opening ones eyes and seeing the wrong in their "perfect" worlds. This may be illustrated in Fahrenheit 451 when Clarisse asks Montag "Are you happy" By this, Clarisse is initiating the thoughts in Montag about if the burning of books, and living his life in this way is what he really wants. She is attempting to understand if this life choice is really what Montag is content with. In the same way, Agatha begins to do the same to Anderton in her very few words of "Can you see" to him. This repeated phrase throughout the movie has the same underlying theme each time, of opening ones eyes to discovery and realizing the indignity of their world.…

In Lord of the Flies, the main themes that I noticed are; betrayal, bravery, survival, and fear. During the book, Ralph gets betrayed many times by Jack, someone who he believed was going to be his friend, the ending of the book is really when it comes to light. Also the next three themes exist throughout the entire book and are noticeable in every characters. The themes I noticed in The Maze Runner were; friendship, order, and fear. The theme of friendship is probably the main theme that I saw, all of the boys have to be friends in order to survive and to get back to civilization.…

Throughout any piece of literature one or more themes are presented in the story. A theme is a topic or an underlying message throughout the text. Authors, like Arthur Miller, present themes through major characters' actions, their thoughts, dialogue, and character motivations. Stories have a theme to help the readers relate and to connect to their characters and to maintain the story's soul. One of the thematic ideas of The Crucible is that intimidation, dishonesty, and revenge can lead to false accusations and injustice.…

Thelma and Louise, a film by Carolyn Ann Khouri, trails the liberations of two working class women in the 90’s. These women plan a weekend away from the men in their lives due to the fact that Thelma’s husband is a misogynistic man who feels that a woman’s job consists only of housework and cooking. In the first scene of the movie Thelma wants to ask her husband, Darryl, for permission to go on the trip with Louise. He yells at her and she quickly changes the subject. In my opinion, this is one of the most crucial scenes in the entire film because it outlines the sexism and discrimination that these two women will face throughout the course of the movie.…
