Travelling: The Greatest Impact Of My Life

Decent Essays
Travelling has been one of the biggest impact of my life. It is the greatest adventure of my life and has made me learn priceless topics and has made me overcome many obstacles. Although many individuals find it dangerous and tiring to travel for over 6 hours, it is an experience most people should invest in especially with family or friends. The reason it is good not to travel alone is important because it will be harder to get out of trouble and you can trust that the other person will help you or share memories with you. I see a lot of people who live by the Belize-Guatemalan border and have not even visited Guatemala once. People may go and buy at Melchor or Chetumal but only for a day or half a day this is only for shopping but once you …show more content…
This is the birthplace of my mother and where most of my mothers’ family resides. They were the only family members we could see as for my father’s relatives were either living in the USA or in Canada. It was also a good way to have us keep our Spanish vocabulary in use and extending it. Travelling was always a burden to me because I had motion sickness and would vomit at least 4 times before reaching our destination. Somehow, I always managed to get sick either by vomit or by allergies or a fever. So you can say travelling wasn’t a fun time but in reality it was just on the way or coming back that this happened so during the time we were at the destination I would mostly be …show more content…
I also learnt that being one with nature or away from the big city was reflective of all that happened in my life so far. Travelling meant a focus on what is meaningful to me and what I should and must be doing; I was becoming more reflective on my life and also noticing others’ lives too. Travelling was getting at the center of myself and teaching myself that things can be learnt outside of a class, being free from the city, being apart from friends, getting in touch with my family, etc. Learning is not solely established in a classroom but outside where we can see how the world works, who gets along, why people do things the way they do and what they consider important that you don’t. The dedication and sacrifice to spend only two weeks with our extended family is a testament of the adaption of a ritualistic behavior. Even when my family was going through some difficult times we always managed to sacrifice for three months and eat on the minimum just to go. It has become a ritual and if we don’t travel for a year it is so frustrating so we always tend to go either on Christmas or Easter. Travelling is more about finding about myself than understanding others. Understanding others is important and key to life but when you are stuck and desperate it makes you take everything you have for grated in a new light. There was a time where we slept on the streets just to travel and even though it was

What does it truly mean to be intellectual? Some may say that being intellectual means being book smart, while others say that it is being street smart. In an entry of “Hidden Intellectualism” by Gerald Graff, Graff believes that one can actually become intellectual if they start learning about topics they actually enjoy and then slowly start easing into challenging topics. While many argue that intellectualism is limited to the studies of school, non-academic activities such as traveling and truly experiencing these events can teach one about the history of a place, the culture, and how to solve problems. When asked why people decide travel they just say that they travel for vacation, but what they do not realize is that traveling is a learning experience.…

Why you Should Become a Seagoing Cowboy Today Has the thought of traveling on the crashing waves of the sea to help other countries in need, ever crossed your mind? I have already volunteered my time to help countries that were in ruins and I recommend that you do too. Still not convinced that you should join the seagoing cowboys? There are different types of traveling. We travel for vacationing and sight seeing, we travel because we want to get away from our daily routine, we travel to see our loved ones, to escape cold weather, to escape war and tyrant rulers, to look for a better life. People who travel at an early age do succeed in their schooling and jobs. Rather than taking away from time when they could be studying, traveling provides a different sort of education for students and young adults, proving to give them a boost when they look for jobs. Author of, “How Millennials are Changing Travel,” Amanda Machado, states that, “My travels helped me obtain a summer job with Global Glimpse, an organization that takes disadvantaged students on educational trips through Nicaragua” (Machado). For Amanda, traveling secured her a paying job for the next stage of her life. Through the experiences she gained while traveling, she learned and grew as a person enough to be ready for a career in…

Many people wish to travel the around the world and meet new places. I would say that the destination you are going to is important, but who you are going with on the trip is crucial. Some people make excellent traveling companions, while others not so much. Two characters that would make great traveling companions would be Montresor from “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allan Poe and Arnold Friend from “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been” by Carol Joyce Oates. They would travel to Las Vegas where they would take advantage of vulnerable people.…

Many times people “often lose track old friends [they] never see again.” Perry Patetic in his excerpt, explains how the invention of planes, trains, and automobiles is actually a negative thing because we lose our close relationships. The author supports his claim by first discussing how when we move away we tend to lose our close relationships. The authors purpose is to pursue the reader to believe that today's transportation is actually bad because we don't have people we can depend on. People should be allowed to travel, we can always connect with our loved ones through social media but travels gives us an opportunity to meet new people that we would not necessarily come across.…

In March this year, I brought up the idea about going to Costa Rica for our annual summer trip. My family and I had traveled to Europe in the past and experienced the famous tourist sites and cultures. In all of these tourist places, English was widely spoken and it was easy to get around, order food and find our way round. Costa Rica: safe, peaceful, adventurous, and a tourist haven. I envisioned Hawaii with even bigger mountains, more lush forests, coffee and chocolate everywhere, and lots of adventure activities.…

If you're going on a trip, the most memorable part of that is what happened on the plane or in the car. You remember the weird people you sit next to, or how they narrate the scenery flying by. Once you get to a destination, it can be very fun. The new sights, new adventures to have, but that can get pretty boring after some time. And once that gets too tame, you can look back on how the journey made you laugh, or how it made you scared.…
