To start off, death in Poe's life was a big part of his writing. Many people in his life died but there was one thing that killed most of his loved ones. Tuberculosis was the one that killed many loved ones. Poe referred to TB as the mummer in “The Masque Of The Red Death”. The mummer was like TB to Poe because it could and would kill anybody it wanted. Another way Poe's life impacted his writing is because lots of loved ones died in his life. In most of Poe's pieces of writing he has love in there somewhere, but the one notable piece of writing that he did that was called the “The Raven”. In that story there is a lady that the narrator was looking for called Lenore. From the reader's point of view you don't know who Lenore is because there was no one in his life by the name of Lenore, but many think it represents Virginia. Another way poe's life impacted his writing was Virginas death. She was the one he had loved the most. But of course she dies of TB. In addition, insanity impacted Poe's writing very much. In the story “The Raven” the raven can somewhat talk. But all it says is “Nevermore”. So Poe has the narrator ask this raven many questions, but he never gets an answer.
