Reading through the trauma informed practice organisational tool, I observed that my facility has strength and weakness. In strength- we practice trauma-informed care, everything we do embodies an awareness of the impact of traumatic stress on those that we have contact with, for example; our clients, and our ourselves. My organization does not have a clearly written policy statement publicly declaring a commitment to trauma-informed practice, in that light. Training for Staff
My facility continuously commits to ongoing trauma training for staff. According to trauma informed practice guide (2013), “It is important for staff to receive training in relation to trauma-informed practice as is relevant for the organization. Research and clinical experience continue to provide new knowledge. Ongoing training and training opportunities ensure that staff knowledge and skills remain current and clinically relevant” (p.50). my priority will be to encourage staff to participate in workshop on trauma informed care as this will improve their knowledge on the said topic.
Support and Supervision of Staff
I will prioritise supporting staff as this will give staff the leverage to work with trauma
