1. In the novel, Trauma by Michael Palmer, one of the biggest emotional impact for me was in chapter two. When Dr. Carrie Bryant was administering Beth’s surgery to remove the brain tumor, she kept thinking to herself and her goal was to keep her promise. I felt sad but also proud at the same time because of wellness of the patient being described and Dr. Bryant’s will. The diction and details used to entail the surgical scene allowed me to really feel Dr. Bryant’s dedication to keep Beth alive to see her kids.
2. The main character in the novel is Dr. Carrie Bryant. At the beginning of the novel, she is described to be a fourth-year neurosurgeon who has talent and determination for what she does. The character is well-developed through details made throughout her struggles with her patients, Adam, and the criminal instigating her. In some ways, the readers can relate to her by having the same morals to save and help people like she does but relating to her incident with the criminal

7. Something unexpected and surprising from the novel happened in chapter 47. In the chapter, the author describes Carrie’s encounter with the mysterious criminal. The novel stated that the mysterious man watched her sleep and had put a pillow over her face. The details were surprising to me because it described the criminal’s actions. The description allowed me to make prediction on how messed up the criminal’s mind must be.
8. A small moment or scene that sticks in my mind after reading Trauma is the scene described at the beginning of chapter 48. The small moment detailing Carrie’s violate encounter with the mysterious man. The moment she escapes the man by throwing him to the ground by kicking him and running out of the room to find help. The moment gave me chills, nervousness, and a thrill that she would be able to find the police officers on time. I won’t forget this scene because it allowed me to feel the desperation and panic feeling felt by Carrie herself.

Although Billy Pilgrim attempts to lead a normal life after experiencing the atrocities, his bouts of mental instability and the time travel induced by deep seated trauma point to man’s inability to purge himself of the effects of man’s inhumanity.…

The reason thousands of veterans get PTSD every year is caused by inflammation, or atleast that is the cause according to the article “Before the Trauma”, by Moises Velasquez- Manoff -0otr. The article claims that “scientists had also noted odd signs of inflammation in the blood serum of PTSD” (Velasquez 59).
