Trapping takes a lot of steps, and there are many aspects to take into perspective such as setting a trap, learning scents, and blending in the basics. There are many things to take into account while setting traps. Especially when trying to catch wolves because they are very smart animals and are hard to catch. Their sense of smell is what makes them so hard to catch, they can smell the metal on the trap their nose is so good. Using the right types of traps and materials is also important. If you try to use a little trap to catch a wolf it may not work very well. Once a wolf has stepped in a trap once they have become trap smart and are even harder to catch. Setting traps take quite a while, but once they are set they are set until you have to pull them again. I am going to tell you a little about the basics of what you need to do to catch wolves. …show more content…
Bedding is a very important thing to make sure is perfect while setting your trap. You want a nice firm bedding so the trap can't wiggle or move very much at all. A flat bedding is also important because if the trap is not flat it may not go off very well. Setting the trap is very important to learn how to do also. You first want to push down the jaws with your setters all the way down. Once that is done, you want to push the dog over the pan so it hooks up and hold the pan in place along with the jaws. There are not too many tools used to set a trap and you could really make it by without any. Things called trap setter hook down in the sides of the traps and make it easy to set the jaws. A pan cover is also important because it keep lots of dirt from collecting around the jaw. Making sure the trap is set properly is a very important step in
