The title of the book I read is Trapped by Michael Northrop. Their is a significance of this title and it is that these kids are trapped in a school for a few weeks and they are stuck there because of a blizzard. This was the worst blizzard ever recorded. The author wrote this novel because it kind of informs you how to survive when you are trapped in a school, and what you should do to survive. It would be very scary if you were stuck in a school with little resources to survive.

The Protagonist is Scotty Weems a sophomore and a rising basketball star at Tattawa High School. Scotty is a nice and compassionate kid. Scotty stays after school to help his friend Pete make a go-kart in shop class. Then a very bad blizzard starts so Peter,

This is affects the plot because its making the chances of surviving very slim. Some symbolism in the book that I read was when Scotty gets put into the helicopter and he, “Says it feels like Heaven, it is warm and I’m free from being trapped from the school.” He can go reunite with his family like he always wanted to because he was feeling very homesick all those days he was trapped at the school. Another use of symbolism is the School is like a Prison its dark and cold and you probably won’t make it out and is scary because there is no one there to guide them on what they should do. The story is told by the first person view of Scotty. The Climax of the novel is when the kids get rescued by a search helicopter and they can all safely get out of the school but one, Peter he died one the earthquake happened and the roof caved in on him. This affects the story because it was like a plot twist because you think everyone is going to die but, then the were

    1. Ray Bradeburry wrote Dandelion Wine because it almost seems like it goes through the moments of his life. It explains imagination, almost as if your a 12 year old reading the book and how children think about things differently than adults. He uses dandelions throughout the book as a continuous metaphor, so he also wrote the book to be a continuous metaphor so it would be more interesting. 2.…

In his personal essay, “Captivity”, Sherman Alexie develops an intriguing view on the complexities of the relationship between Native Americans and European Americans, criticizing Caucasians for hypocrisy and fight for power between the two. His many examples comparing the relations between Whites and Native Americans in his essay, while formidable to producing his argument, are helped significantly by a metaphor presented through the mentioning of Mary Rowlandson, a historical figure who was held captive by Native Americans. Alexie’s argument as to the counter productivity and fear produced as a result of race is brought to light partially through the historical reference to the character Mary Rowlandson, reversing roles where instead of the White person being captive, the Native American is. The introduction of Mary Rowlandson in the piece isn’t until the third section,…
