Transportation Security Inspector: A Case Study

On 06/27/2016 at approx. 1500, Supervisory Transportation Security Inspector (STSI) Jerry Biggs and Transportation Security Inspector (TSI) Rick Wright went down to the Allegiant Ticket counter in an attempt to try to interview Quickflight, Inc. Station Manger Will Denslow on an Incident that had occurred over the weekend with Quickflight employee Omar Hernandez. STSI Biggs asked Mr. Denslow if he could provide us information on the incident. Mr. Denslow stated that he was aware of the Incident that involved Acting Supervisor Brian Lewis issuing Omar Hernandez a Gate Pass to escort a passenger down to the gate which was in a wheelchair. The Gate Pass was issued since Omar was not currently badged. Mr. Denslow stated he did not see how issuing Omar a Gate Pass was any different …show more content…
At that time TSI Melissa Christie had walked up while we were interviewing Mr. Denslow. STSI Biggs asked if Mr. Denslow if he had received any correspondent from his Corporate Office regarding Security Topics with employees working without being escorted that was supposed to be a corrective action due to an incident that had happened a week prior. Mr. Denslow stated that he had not seen anything regarding that and turned to double check his email. After checking his email real quick, Mr. Denslow stated “No I have not received any email.” STSI Biggs stated, “Ok, I was just asking because I was told an email was sent out to all the Stations.” Mr. Denslow stated “that the email may have not come through yet, I’ve been really busy but haven’t seen anything.” STSI Biggs, TSI Wright and Christie concluded the interview by stating that pursuant to the ASP at TUL it is required that any unbadged employee must be escorted at all times with performing work functions until the individual has fully completed the badging process and is issued a badge to work at TUL.
