The next essay I found to assist in evidential analysis was Validation Experiences and Persistence among Community College Students by Elisabeth A. Barnett. Barnett this research contributes to the understanding of college student departure decisions as they help determine factors related to persistence. The transition from high school to college is one of the most significant changes most of us will experience in our lives. After spending countless hours taking the SAT, filling our college applications, and attending college tours I felt as if a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders when received my letter of acceptance from the University of North Georgia/ Gainesville. While the thought of joining my best friend at Georgia Southern was very appealing to me, I knew it was not the right fit for me academically. If there is one thing, I have learned about myself over the years it is that I do much better in a smaller environment.…

I often think about the similarities and differences from my high school experiences and my brief experience in college. I have noticed that both high school and college allows students the freedom and opportunity to choose classes pertaining to our future career. College; however, differs in that it offers a wider variety of courses for a more diverse education and unlike high school, where you are learning from a book and notes, college educates us on real world experiences. A great example would be the global cultural events where you learn about other cultures, societies, and are able to see the world from a new, fresh…

Throughout high school, my teachers have always said, “We are preparing you for college,” and, “It won’t be this easy when you go to college.” We are conditioned to think of college as a completely independent learning environment where spending hours studying a textbook is the key to a good grade and later, success in a career. “No one in college will care whether you pass or fail. It’s all up to you,” said my freshman English teacher. I have had the unique opportunity to test this theory out the past two years through the Trailblazer Collegiate Academy.…
