Personal Narrative: My Journey To Transition Myself

Improved Essays
I drive to grow as a person and having aspirations will help me progress in my life. My objective throughout this semester is to provide a plan for change to transition myself into a healthier lifestyle. I want to be in good physical shape, have more energy to do things that I enjoy, actually be proud to flaunt myself, and improve my relationship with my significant other. My goal is to lose thirty pounds by starting a routine of exercising four days a week for at least thirty minutes each day as well as work on communication skills. I specifically plan to change my behavior and cut out all soda out of my diet, dedicate my time to exercise, walk to the mailbox daily regardless, and express my feelings rather than keeping them private.

After setting a goal and working to accomplish it, I seen my weight drop 39 pounds. I currently weigh 161 pounds and have exceeded my thirty pound mark. However, I was not as successful in my communication skills. The most difficult thing about trying to change was expressing my feelings. I started a couple petty arguments before my boyfriend went home for vacation because I was having a bad day and we did not talk about it beforehand. The most satisfying thing about changing was visibly seeing my weight decrease on the scale. I was noticing how my clothes were fitting looser and I was more energized during the mornings. I realized that switching up the types of physical activity I did helped me a lot. It prevented boredom from repeating the same things and also gave me a different environment every time because I picked different places to walk at. However, if we were to do this again, I would change the season to start. It was difficult to find ways to exercise in the winter; exercising with a wood stove on is not pleasurable as well as exercising in the freezing temperatures outside. I would prefer to start in the spring and continue until late fall while it was comfortable

I was 16 years old at the time, and had been working there as a casual, with around 1-2 shifts per week for almost a year. I did not enjoy the work and was tired of late shifts, so I used the excuse of HSC preparation to quit, gave 2 weeks’ notice, handed in my uniform and left. I did not consider getting my managers’ contact details and keeping in touch, as at that stage I just wanted to put it behind me quickly and quietly. I was initially very happy with my decision to quit my job as I suddenly had a lot more free time, and I broke of ties because it was easier and it made me feel less guilty about quitting. However, I now have trouble getting references for my job applications as that is still the only paid, long-term work experience that I have.…

I stayed behind two to three hours after school four days a week while functioning on less than five hours of sleep everyday. The stress was getting to me because I kept on forgetting what I had studied for my tests, which resulted in me failing a couple of tests.…
