Transitioning from high school to college can be unnecessarily difficult. Being aware, however, of the next step in this process is impertinent to quickly completing this transition. After graduating, there is always another opportunity to be seized: it just needs to be found. Waiting means delaying success. A college student is obligated to earn a degree, but their primary ambition should be to continually discover and accomplish goals.
Goal-setting is important, but one cannot perform at their best if their are straining—mentally, financially or otherwise. If you personally ever feel that your mental health is at risk, and it is detracting from your academics or college experience as a whole, do yourself a favor and schedule a meeting with CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services). Though I have never attended a session, I wish I had; friends and acquaintances who recommended CAPS only had praise for it. Even if therapy seems unnecessary, it can be worthwhile to speak with a professional in this usually transformative period in people’s lives. CAPS is also covered under tuition fees, so it is free-of-charge.

Frequently, textbooks are an expensive commodity, especially without financial aid disbursements. Alleviating this problem is straightforward: sign up for The Short Term Advance for Books or The Textbook Purchase Program prior to the beginning of the semester. In my experience, however, a professor may list a textbook as required in their syllabus, but it is ultimately unnecessary in the class.
