I believe that my transition from childhood to adulthood, both from my own perspective and others, occurred most drastically during my work experiences as an archaeological field technician. It was an abrupt change that I had to adapt to as I became completely responsible for all aspects of my life and wellbeing, as well as taking on the roles and responsibilities most commonly associated with adulthood in my family, community, and country as a whole. Starting my sophomore summer of high school I worked in the summers and during breaks as a surveyor/field technician with the private archaeological consulting firm TRC Solutions Inc. This later evolved into living out of a hotel away from home while working 40+ hour 7am-4pm work weeks doing shovel

Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family. As the pages of my favorite childhood story flutter through my fingers, memories of fantastical worlds flood my mind. I begin to read aloud about the four children, sent away to a mysterious house and the wardrobe that transports them to a magical new land. The tale is just as enchanting as I recall, but this time through the story, the magic I appreciate most is not found in the pages of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.…

Michael Kearney is the youngest American to attend college. At the young and impressionable age of 11, Michael graduated from the University of California-Santa Cruz in 1989. Kearney was first homeschooled by his parents, who enrolled him in college at age ten in an attempt to bring some "normalcy" into his life. By most social standards Kearney is still considered a child but yet he is doing quite adult things. That sparks the question, at what point does one stop being a child and become an adult?…

Antonio’s mother wants him to be a priest while his father wants him to live the life of a wild vaquero. He is not able to find his own way to cope with all of the surrounding madness due to his family pulling him in every direction. The one accomplishment that marked my transition from being a child into becoming an adult would have to be when I got my first job at Culver’s. This accomplishment was a major milestone in my life which lead to many other great things to follow it. After applying to many different places I finally got a call back from Culver’s saying that they would like to have me come in to have an interview with me. At first I was a nervous wreck, but with the help of some really good friends with some good tips on how to dress, talk, and answer some of their tougher questions. I really appreciated their help and if it weren't for them I probably wouldn't have got the job.…

In my transition from childhood to adulthood one event stands out. This event was my experience with the American legal system as a witness to a friend that was being unjustly persecuted. Most adults cherish childhood innocence, as they have experience with an onerous adulthood. At a young age, parents teach their children that the world is a perfect, Utopian society. As children mature, they realize that the once ‘perfect world’ was nothing but a false, sugar-coated take on the harsh realities of life.…
