Transition To Adulthood

If you ask most people, they will say that you reach adulthood at the age of 18. I believe that I started this transition at 16. Two months before my 16th birthday on a Saturday morning, my mom and I got into the car and she drove me around to the various stores, restaurants, and recreation centers where I told her I wouldn’t mind working. Before I left her in the car she told me that to get a job I must confidently walk up to the nearest employee and ask for the manager. I still had no idea what to do or to say; the whole morning was filled with sweaty hands and a red face. I did know that I had to show my future managers that I would be a great employee and asset to their company. Nonetheless after meeting with the manager from Malley’s Chocolates three times I finally landed a job, before I was even of a legal working age. …show more content…
Giddy with excitement of all of the things I could buy with my first paycheck, I was quickly surprised that I wouldn't be spending a penny of it. My hard earned $132 went to my first car insurance bill, the cost of my drivers license, and gas for my grandma’s old car. I wasn’t happy about this splurge at first but now I am grateful that I learned how to manage my money wisely. Now that I have a job and can fund for myself, I have learned the value and need for possessions. My parents have offered me the opportunity to pay for my personal desires and some of my necessities, which has made me prioritize my life even
